A competition ran from Sept 15 to Nov 14, 2014, calling for citizens of 

Singapore and Germany to submit designs based on the theme 

"50 years of Singapore-Germany friendship".

Buddy Bears began as a street art event in Berlin, started by Klaus and Eva Herlitz 

in 2001. Hundreds of bears were created and displayed in the city that year.
